Remember the Womens Army Corps

wacsThe Womens Army Corps was founded in 1942 out of necessity to release men to serve in combat units. Public opinion was against this but the good thing about it is that necessity gave women a chance to show what they could do.

The status quo were careful to make sure that women didn’t get anywhere close to combat operations, but that has changed somewhat nowadays. Women are still not allowed in combat units but in modern warfare the lines of contact are sometimes very blurred. You probably remember how we had women soldiers taken prisoner in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I for one don’t think women should be allowed in combat because of the negative psychological impact there would be if women were killed or captured. I also think that women prisoners might be subjected to more physical abuse by male captors.

Women today serve in almost every area of  our armed forces and are an invaluable asset to our country. When women began to be inducted into the armed forces we had to add the different categories of womens military rings for women into our military ring inventory.
